Would this tattoo be disrespectful or wrong to get in any way?

Well, if you're going to get a tattoo, I suggest getting one of the regiment that you are/were in. Not many people off the street would understand why you would have the patch of a disbanded company on your arm instead of the one you truly represent. just a thought
